The development of intramolecular carbonyl-ene type cyclocondensation of oxygenated
o-phenylallylbenzaldehydes in refluxing decalin is reported. The facile and easy-to-operate
thermolytic rearrangement procedure generates substituted naphthalenes in good to
excellent yields.
