New 3-(2-arylethenyl)-2-methylqunoxalines 3 were prepared in high yields using standard procedures. These compounds serve as starting materials for the preparation of unsymmetrically substituted 2,3-bis-(2-arylethenyl)quinoxalines 4, a new group of quinoxaline derivates.
