ω-Aminoalkylheterocycles are of broad interest as natural products and biologically active compounds. New syntheses in this class of compounds by asymmetric side chain modification or ring chain transformation reactions are reviewed. The compounds obtained exhibit unusual properties such as unexpected reactions, ring chain tautomerism, pH-dependent formation of different isomers due to the co-operative interactions of both subunits, i. e. alkylamine and heterocycle. 1.
