1,3-Dioxolan-2-ylidenemalonic acid, monoalkyl 1,3-dioxolan-2-ylidenemalonates and α-cyano-1,3-dioxolan-2-ylideneacetic acid were prepared by hydrogenolysis of the corresponding benzyl esters which were obtained in a one-pot reaction of 2-chloroethyl chloroformate with dibenzyl malonate, alkyl benzyl malonates and benzyl cyanoacetate, respectively.
