Preparation of (R)-(-)-2-methoxy-2'-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)-1,1'-binaphthyl, and (1R, 2R)-(+)-1-trimethylsilyl-2-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)ferrocene which are the first examples of optically active tetrazolyl compounds with axial or planar chirality, respectively, is described.
