Abstract

A 5-year-old boy suffers from massive intracapsular bleeding of the thymus (apoplectic bleeding), following severe thoracic compression.
The clinical history, symptomatology, diagnostic and therapy are discussed. Most characteristic clinical feature is the prolonged development of the compression of the upper mediastinum, with unexpectedly fast deterioration of the circulatory state after an asymptomatic period. For the surgeon, it is very important to think about this possibility, if the volume-substitution remains unsuccessful in shock-therapy, and the signs of congestion of the neck veins become very impressive.

Zusammenfassung

Ein 5jähriger Junge erleidet bei einem Rasanz-Trauma eine massive Thymuseinblutung, die eine akute obere Einflußstauung hervorruft.
Klinik, Diagnostik und Therapie werden - zusammen mit dem Ergebnis der 3-Jahreskontrolluntersuchung - erörtert.
