Significance

(-)-Salviasperanol belongs to the family of icetexane diterpenoids. The first total synthesis of (-)-salviasperanol based upon a cyclialkylation strategy is reported here. This asymmetric synthesis, starting from the achiral enynone B, was completed in seven steps.
