Significance

A practical aziridination method for aliphatic alkenes with IPrCu(DBM) as an effective catalyst is reported. Aliphatic alkenes, including cyclopentene and cyclohexene, which are known to be difficult substrates for aziridation, could be efficiently aziridinated giving moderate to high yields. This reaction requires only small excesses of amine and iodosobenzene and thus proves to be superior to many previous aziridination protocols.
