Significance
An efficient method for the transformation of terminal alkynes into allenes has been developed. The reaction proceeds best under catalysis of CuI and with Cy2NH. Various functional groups, including hydroxyl, nitro and mesityl as well as sp² C-Br bonds are tolerated.
