Significance

An efficient protocol for the ortho-selective C-H arylation using aryl acylperoxides as aryl sources was developed. This decarboxylative arene C-H arylation reaction is supposed to proceed via directing-group-assisted cyclopalladation and subsequent reaction of the resulting palladacycle with the aryl radicals generated in situ from thermal decomposition of the peroxides. Pyridyl, oxime and oxazoline moieties were hereby used as directing groups. Bromo, cyano, aldehyde and nitro groups are well tolerated under the reaction conditions.
