Significance

An organocatalytic, highly efficient anti-diastereoselective hetero-Diels-Alder (HDA) reaction between a glyoxylate and siloxy- or methoxydienes using chiral phosphoric acids is presented. The authors suggest that the substituents at the 3- and 3′-positions of the catalyst play an important role in the stereochemical control of the transition state.
