Significance

Palladium-decorated carbon nanotubes (Pd-CNTs) were prepared by depositing Pd2(dba)3 on thiolated multiwalled carbon nanotubes (eq. 1). The Pd-CNTs promoted the hydrodehalogenation of aryl halides to give the corresponding arenes in 85-99% yield (eqs. 2 and 3; 8 examples). The Pd-CNTs were recovered by simple filtration and reused without loss of catalytic activity (2nd use: 82-95% yield).
