Significance

Key steps in the synthesis of the marine neurotoxin gymnodimine were (1) a ­Nozaki-Hiyama-Kishi reaction linking A and B; (2) the Barbier-type macrocyclization reaction (D → E); and (3) the Mukaiyama aldol reaction linking F and G.
