Significance
A novel iron-catalyzed C(sp³)-C(sp³) coupling between alcohols and mono- or 1,1-disubstituted alkenes is reported. The reaction proceeds via direct C(sp³)-H functionalization of the alcohol. Tertiary alcohols can be used instead of alkenes as substrates.
