Significance

Ruthenium on carbon (10 wt% Ru loading) catalyzed the aerobic oxidation of primary and secondary alcohols in toluene at 50-90 ˚C under oxygen to afford the corresponding aldehydes and ketones in up to 99% yield (20 examples).
