Significance

The oxidative desymmetrization of meso-diols is an efficient way to synthesize hydroxyl carbonyl compounds. In this work, the iridium complex catalyzed oxidative desymmetrization of several cyclic and acyclic meso-diols was accomplished with high yields and high enantio­selectivities.
