Significance

The preparation of a novel palladium material supported on sulfur-modified gold and its application to the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling were described. Gold (100 mesh-14x12mm²) was treated with Piranha solution (H2SO4-H2O2) and the resulting sulfur-modified gold was treated with Pd(OAc)2 to afford a sulfur-modified gold-supported palladium material (SAPd). SAPd (0.07 mol% palladium) catalyzed the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling with high recyclability.
