Significance

In this work a palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling of an aziridinylzinc chloride intermediate with alkenyl and aryl iodides and bromides is disclosed. Only low catalyst loadings (2.5 mol%) are required and the aziridine stereo­chemistry is retained. The synthetic utility is shown in the synthesis of an analogue of l-furanomycin.
