Significance

This work discloses a new protocol for the trifluoromethylation of aryl- and alkenylboronic acids under mild conditions in good to excellent yields. The trifluoromethyl group is transferred from 1-trifluoromethyl-1,3-dihydro-3,3-dimethyl-1,2-benziodoxole (Togni’s reagent) under CuI catalysis.
