Significance

The authors recently developed a stereospecific allylic amination of unactivated secondary allylic alcohols (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2010, 132, 11917). In this paper, they report an easy and robust protocol for an enantioselective allylic etherification reaction of unactivated secondary allylic alcohols. An Ir(P-alkene) complex affords the products with high yields and good levels of enantioselectivity. The reactions were generally run on a 0.5 mmol scale.
