Significance

The authors investigated the effects of an N-oxide salen and pyrrolidine salen ligands on the titanium-catalyzed cyanosilylation of aldehydes. Interestingly, they found that N-oxide ligands could promote the reaction without a metal catalyst, while standard pyrrolidine salen ligands required the titanium catalyst.
