Introduction

Congenital absence of the portal vein is a rare condition in which the mesenteric and splenic venous circulation bypasses the liver and drains directly into the systemic circulation [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]. We report on this malformation in 2 patients, a child and an adult, with unusual clinical presentations and positive outcomes.
