Significance

An efficient and direct nucleophilic difluoromethylation using (difluoromethyl)trimethylsilane in the presence of a Lewis base is disclosed. Several carbonyl compounds as well as sulfinyl imines are successfully converted into the corresponding difluoromethylated derivatives.
