Publication History

Publication Date:
26 August 2003 (online)

This issue contains papers, which were presented at a workshop on Hirschsprung's disease on September 6 - 7, 2002 in Mannheim-Heidelberg on occasion of the 60th birthday of Professor Karl-Ludwig Waag, Chief of the Department of Paediatric Surgery of the University of Heidelberg-Mannheim.

The main subject of this conference was dedicated to the transanal pullthrough technique and recent experimental studies on microbiology and genetics of Hirschsprung's disease.

De la Torre-Mondragon's technique was demonstrated by Professor Hadidi (Cairo) by live surgery transmitted to the theatre and a laparoscopic Duhamel pullthrough performed by Professor Ure (Hannover).

The Editorial Board thanks Professor Waag for the permission to publish these outstanding contributions in the European Journal of Pediatric Surgery and dedicates this issue to him for his continuing efforts in the field of Paediatric Surgery in Germany.
