Abstract

The report that fused acetal derivatives can be obtained from oxidative cycloaddition of 1,3-diketones or 1,3-diketo esters to cyclic enol ethers using tetrabutylammonium peroxydisulfate was proved to be erroneous. Under these reaction conditions fused acetals were neither isolated nor confirmed.
