In the typical procedure given for the reaction of diazomethane with trinitromethane, the sentence ‘Then the mixture was concentrated to give 1.30 g of a yellow oil consisting of 1 and 2 in the ratio 7:3 (as shown by ¹H NMR)’ should instead read ‘The described synthesis was run four times and the combined reaction mixtures were concentrated to give 1.30 g of a yellow oil consisting of 1 and 2 in the ratio of 7:3 (as shown by ¹H NMR)’.
