Ureteral Triplication - Report of Four Cases

Abstract

Four cases of ureteral triplication in children are described. In one case ureteral triplication was detected incidentally and it was not accompanied by any other pathology of the urinary tract. In the three remaining cases there were pathologies of the urinary system (reflux, obstruction) that demanded surgical treatment. The literature concerning this rare anomaly is reviewed.

Buts: Quatre cas de triplication urétérale chez l'enfant ont été décrites. Dans un cas, la triplication urétérale était détectée de manière systématique et n'était accompagné par aucune pathologie du tractus urinaire. Dans les trois cas restants, il y avait une pathologie du système urinaire (reflux, obstruction) qui a nécessité un traitement chirurgical. La littérature concernant cette anomalie est revue.

Resumen

Describimos cuatro casos de triplicación ureteral en niños que fue detectada por casualidad y que no se acompañó de otra patología del aparato urinario. En los demás casos hubo otras anomalías (reflujo, obstrucción) que requirieron tratamiento quirúrgico. Revisamos la literatura a este respecto.

Zusammenfassung

Es werden 4 Fälle einer Ureterverdreifachung bei Kindern beschrieben. In einem Fall wurde die dreifache Anlage des Ureters zufällig entdeckt und war nicht von einer Erkrankung des Harntraktes begleitet. Bei den drei anderen Fällen führte die dreifache Anlage des Ureters zu pathologischen Veränderungen des Harntraktes wie Reflux, Obstruktion, die eine chirurgische Therapie benötigten. Die Literatur dieser sehr seltenen Anomalie wird vorgestellt.
