Significance
Homoallylamines are useful intermediates in synthesis, for instance, in the preparation of biologically active compounds, some of them also possessing biological activity. This work describes a simple one-pot reaction, giving rise to these compounds. Enol esters, including cyclic derivatives, are used as aldehyde equivalents in the in situ formation and allylation of the corresponding imines. The method gives access to a number of polysubstituted N-arylhomoallylamines, starting from inexpensive and easily available reagents. The protocol is extremely operationally simple, and the conditions are tolerant to the presence of valuable functional groups.
