Significance

A magnetically recoverable palladium catalyst for the Suzuki-Miyaura reaction and the Mizoroki-Heck reaction was described. Thus, the Suzuki-Miyaura reaction of aryl chlorides with phenyl boronic acid was carried out in the presence of magnetic Pd nanoparticles (NiFe2O4-DA-Pd), K3PO4, and tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBAB) in DMF to give the corresponding biaryls in 75-93% yield (eq. 1). The Mizoroki-Heck reaction of aryl chlorides with styrene was also catalyzed by NiFe2O4-DA-Pd to afford the corresponding products in 72-95% yield (eq. 2).
