Significance
The structure of the myxobacterium Sorangium cellulosum metabolite chlorotonil A was assigned in 2008 (K. Gerth, H. Steinmetz, G. Höfle, R. Jansen Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2008, 47, 160). The double carbonyl flanked CCl2 motif and promising first biological data render this molecule an interesting synthetic target.
