Significance
Palladium(II) acetate immobilized on N,N-diethylaminopropyl amorphous alumina (NDEAP-Al2O3-Pd(OAc)2) was synthesized and found to promote the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction. Thus, the reaction of Pd(OAc)2 and N,N-diethylaminopropyl amorphous alumina in THF followed by evaporation to dryness gave NDEAP-Al2O3-Pd(OAc)2 (Pd/alumina = 0.025 mol/g). The Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction of aryl halides with arylboronic acids was carried out in the presence of NDEAP-Al2O3-Pd(OAc)2 (20 mol% Pd) in H2O-EtOH to give the corresponding biaryls in high yield (17 examples, 74-100% yield).
