Significance

The authors describe an enantio­selective copper-catalyzed conjugate addition of dimethylzinc to alkylidene Meldrum’s acids in the presence of the chiral phosphoramidite 3. The products having all-carbon quaternary stereocenters (methyl-containing) can be obtained in good to excellent yields and enantioselectivities.
