Significance

The authors previously reported a stereoselective method to homologate carbon chains bearing boronic esters (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2007, 46, 7491). Here, they demonstrate the power of this methodology in the total synthesis of (+)-faranal and highlight an impressive one-pot homologation process.
