Significance
A new class of bidentate N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligands are synthesized in three easy steps. The effects of these ligands in the copper-catalyzed asymmetric conjugate alkylation of acyclic enones with dialkylzinc are examined and high enantioselectivities are obtained.
