Significance
The C 1-symmetric bisphosphine ligand shown above was designed to be electron-rich and rigid, bearing a three-quandrant hindered structure. The ligand synthesis began with commercially available 1,2-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid and featured a highly diastereoselective lithiation step, avoiding costly chiral HPLC purification.
