Significance
The dithioacetal mono-oxides are useful compounds to control the stereochemistry in reactions of carbonyl compounds. Therefore, an effective method to synthesize these compounds is still desirable. The authors achieved the vanadium-catalyzed asymmetric oxidation of 1,3-dithianes to afford the corresponding sulfoxides in good yield with high enantioselectivity.
