Family Reactions to Surgical Correction for Kyphoscoliosis in Spina Bifida Children: A Preliminary Report

Abstract

The families of 11 children who had been operated for the correction of kyphosis and scoliosis not less than 12 months previously were visited. The anxieties and expectations of patients and parents were investigated and the results compared with a similar investigation in the schools of the children.

Zusammenfassung

Die Familien von 11 Kindern, die wegen einer Kyphose und einer Skoliose operiert worden waren, wurden 12 Monate später besucht. Den Sorgen und Erwartungen der Patienten und Eltern wurde nachgegangen. Die Ergebnisse wurden mit einer ähnlichen Untersuchung in den Schulen der Kinder verglichen.
