In this article structures, syntheses, and reactions of oxyphosphoranes are discussed. The reactions of phosphorus(III) derivatives with carbonyl compounds which result in isolable P(5) and P(4) products are described. Emphasis is placed on the chemical behaviour of 2,2,2-trialkoxy-2,2-dihydro-1,3,2-dioxaphospholenes and -phospholanes and other cyclic oxyphosphoranes. 1. Structure of Oxyphosphoranes 2.
