Significance

TiO2-supported copper hydroxide (Cu(OH)x/TiO2) catalyzed the Huisgen 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of organic azides 1 with terminal alkynes 2 to give the corresponding 1,2,3-triazoles 3 in 78-98% isolated yield (17 examples). The catalyst was recovered by simple filtration and reused three times without significant loss of catalytic performance for the formation of 3a (GC yield: 1st reuse: 99%, 2nd reuse: 99%, 3rd reuse: 99%). No leaching of Cu was observed by ICP-AES analysis after the reaction.
