Synthesis of Propargyl Amines with Ni-Y Zeolite

Significance

Ni-Y zeolite catalyzed the three-component coupling of aldehydes 1, amines 2, and alkynes 3 under solvent-free conditions to give the corresponding propargyl amines 4 in 81-98% yield (28 examples). The catalyst was recovered by simple filtration and reused eight times without significant loss of catalytic activity for the formation of 4a (1^st reuse: 97% yield, 8^th reuse: 94% yield).
