Significance

Application of Davies’ Rh2(DOSP)4 complex affords carbene insertions to α-diazovinylacetates to give chiral crotylsilanes. These silanes can then be applied under previously reported conditions to yield vinylogous aldol products with high diastereo- and enantioselectivity.
