Significance

The authors synthesized ­benzo[k]fluoranthene-based linear acenes through palladium-catalyzed cycloadditions between 1,8-diethynylnaphthalenes and aryl iodides, which can be considered as ‘pre-arynes’, in moderate to good yields.
