Significance
The authors report a practical protocol for the asymmetric cis-dihydroxylation of electron-deficient alkenes with Oxone catalyzed by a manganese complex bearing a chiral tetradentate N4-donor ligand affording the cis-diols in good yields with moderate to high enantioselectivity. This transformation has been scaled up to 6.2 mmol.
