Silica-Supported Polyimidazolium Pd Catalysts for Suzuki-Miyaura Coupling

Significance

Palladium nanoparticles (Pd NPs) supported on an amorphous silica gel and SBA-15 with a polyimidazolium network (SiO2-Pd-3 and SBA-15-Pd-3; loading of Pd: 10 wt%) were prepared and applied to the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling. Thus, the reaction of phenylboronic acid 4 with aryl bromides 5 gave the corresponding biaryls 6 at room temperature or 50 ˚C (SiO2-Pd-3: up to 97% yield; SBA-15-Pd-3: up to >95% yield).
