The synthesis of 7 [c-(D-Ala-Ala-N-Me-Tyr(OHC3)-Ala-N-Me- CH2-o-C6H4CH2CO)], a conformational analog of the potent antitumor agents bouvardin and deoxybouvardin possessing a rigid Tyr5/Tyr6 cis peptide bond mimic (C-2 to C-5) and a potentially induced active conformation comparable to that found in the conformationally rigid natural products, is detailed.
