A facile "one-pot" synthesis of thiophosphoryl xanthates was carried out by using a mild base 1,8-diaza[5,4,0]bicyclo undec 7-ene (DBU)-catalyzed sequential reaction of excess alcohols with carbon disulfide and diethoxy thiophosphoryl chloride. The overall yields are excellent (65-88%).
