Isolation and Characterization of Alkaloids from a New Chemotype of Thalictrum minus

Abstract

Thalictrum minus L. populations of the South-East of Bulgaria (Topolov-grad) represent a distinct chemotype. They contain N-methylcanadine hydroxide as main alkaloid in the herb. The main alkaloid (I) is accompanied by O-methylthalmethine (II), thalmethine (III), thalicberine (IV), O-methylthalic-berine (V), berberine (VI), argemonine (VII), eschscholzidine (VIII), glaucine (IX) and thalipoline. (I) was observed for the first time in Bulgarian plants belonging to Th. minus. The pavine alkaloids (VII) and (VIII) have been detected for the first time in Th. minus. Thalipoline is assumed to be a new pavine alkaloid.
